Yoga Class Styles

Fay offers three different styles of yoga class – Yin Yang, Restorative & Vinyasa Flow. Below you can read more about each yoga style and find out which might be best for you. If you’re unsure, please don’t hesitate to get in touch – Fay will happily advise.

Yin Yang Yoga

Yin and Yang are the two qualities present in everything according to Taoist concept. Yang is active, external and warming; while Yin is internal, passive and calming. Everything possesses these energies, including us. As in yoga, Hatha means Sun Moon, so yoga comprises both these dynamics also. The practice of Yin Yang Yoga combines these concepts; the dynamic Yang being movement working on the muscles to build strength and flexibility, and the Yin Yoga being longer held postures that reach deep into the joints and connective tissues. Both are integral to balancing body and mind, this is whole full body work, increasing blood flow and stamina in Yang and nourishing the organs and nervous system with Yin.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga gives the body the opportunity to relax and fully let go. Through longer held postures we can find a point of release that calms and increases space in the body and also within the mind. There is some very gentle movement in these classes in order to guide you through transition from one posture to the next, allowing full extension and softening to get the greatest restoration.

Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa; sometimes referred to as Flow Yoga or just Flow; means breath synchronised movement. One posture is linked to the next to form a fluid sequence and continuous movement, lead by the breath. Each class is different, and focuses on a different aspect or body part such as hips, shoulders, hamstrings or even hands and feet. These classes will raise your heart rate and the flow of energy within, and introduce you to some of the ancient philosophies upon which modern yoga is based. Fay’s sequences are fluid yet challenging, helping you build strength and flexibility; and completely clear your head.
